Ultra-HD on fast track to 2014

The signs are that the World Cup Final from Brazil will be the first major event delivered in Ultra-HD, mirroring events that surrounded the 3D production in South Africa, in this feature for Broadcast magazine.
MPEG-DASH: Struggling for Adoption?
This article copped some heat. Wasn't me who editorialised the hype into the standfirst :)
It may be early days for MPEG-DASH, the format intended to unify the various adaptive bit-rate specifications, but there are already concerns of slower than expected take-up.

TV Globo uses 4K on soaps

Brazilian broadcaster TV Globo has given the clearest indication yet that elements of the FIFA World Cup 2014 will be captured in Ultra-HD. It is also using 4K for visual effects in its soaps on a daily basis.
